The self-actuated fire detection and fire suppression system ANSUL R-102 offers protection for the following areas connected to cooking equipments:
1. Air evacuation devices – filters, exhaust hoods, air ducts;
2. Deep fryers, kitchen range and cooking stoves;
3. Cooking Grates with natural coal or traveling grates;
4. Electric, chamotte, or gas stove range.
ANSUL R-102 fire suppression system is designed only for interior application, use fixed nozzles, and a distribution network, which distributes the extinguishing agent, contained into the compressed gas cylinders.
The extinguishing agent is a wet chemical compound containing of organic and inorganic salts which forms - through the saponification process - a protective liquid film between the combustible substance and air. Practically, any particle of combustible substance is covered with extinguishing agent; as a result, fire will be extinguished because of the lack of oxygen.
The usage of these systems is imposed by the Romanian legislation in the spaces for public alimentation - restaurants, self-service places, pizza restaurants, – and into the buildings that contain public alimentation spaces - hotels, malls, hospitals, schools, etc.
The major advantage of this automated system is the assurance of a permanent fire protection, independent of the personnel presence. After the discharge of the agent, the activity can resume in a short while, as the cooking equipment will not be damaged.
